Wisdom Teeth / Extractions
Why do we take out wisdom teeth? The primary reason is inadequate space for the wisdom tooth to erupt and become a functional tooth that is easy to keep clean. Other reasons include: pain, existing infection, bone loss, decay, presence of pathology or a cyst, and damage to adjacent teeth. Do all wisdom teeth need to come out?
Most do, but not all. The easiest way to determine this is with an exam and x-ray. Whatever the reason to extract any teeth, it can be done with IV sedation if you choose or local anesthesia if that is more to your liking. Urquhart Oral Surgery does wisdom tooth and other adult tooth as well as deciduous or baby teeth extractions on adults and children. |
